FAQ

BraLisa FAQ

  • Is BraLisa recommended for women who have had breast cancer?
Absolutely! Our bra works best for those women, 3-6 weeks after surgery when they no longer need major compression and instead need to focus on relaxation, comfort and healing.
  • How do I choose the correct size bra size?
When choosing a BraLisa, it is best to measure your size directly underneath your breast and then match it with the size chart on our website.
  • Why is there a fabric tab under the front closure hook and eyes?
To prevent the hooks and eyes from scratching when you bend over.
  • Where is BraLisa manufactured?
In rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Our bras are hand-sewn by skilled, women sewers.
  • Why is spandex added to the organic cotton in your bra?
Bras need some memory or elasticity so that they can give your breasts shape and support. If only organic cotton was used the bra would be limp.
  • Do you use cotton thread?
Yes, we use cotton covered polyester thread to minimize skin irritations and maximize thread strength.
  • Why don’t you use natural latex elastic?
Research has shown that people have a higher propensity to develop allergic reactions to natural latex after surgery. For that reason, doctors prefer non-latex elastic.
  • What is the best way to put on a BraLisa?
Fasten the hooks and eyes on the straps at the loosest setting. Then put the bra on like a shirt by inserting your arms through the arm holes. Next, fasten the four hook and eyes between your breast. Adjust the strap to tighten as needed. Once you’ve determined the tightness of the straps, keep them hooked to make it easy for you to put on and take off your BraLisa.
  • Why is BraLisa available only in black?
In order create the ideal blend of organic cotton and spandex (88%/12%) we
had to purchase a large quantity of fabric from the mill we contracted with in
Southern California. Black was the color doctors recommended for our post-
operative clients. We plan to offer other colors in the future.
  • How do I make my BraLisa last?
It’s best to wash your bra at a low temperature and in a mesh garment bag.
  • Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! BraLisa is a great gift for a friend recovering from breast surgery because it’s so soft, supportive, and comfortable. Check out the pull-down menu on our website on the Buy menu.
  • Why don’t you accept returns?
We are a small, women-owned company without the capability to accept returns, financially or logistically. That’s why provide explicit instructions about to measure yourself for the correct fit. Of course, if there is something wrong from our side, we will gladly replace your bra.
